The rights were available for all four shows. A show and director was chosen by the board. The show and director will officially be announced once our contract for the rights has been signed and our deposit paid.

The number of tickets given to the production staff will be determined at our August meeting. Joann made the motion to allow for comp tickets for the production staff and Bernie Hisey seconded the motion. The motion passed.

*Years of Service - What constitutes a year of service? The Board tabled this discussion until the August meeting.

*Kathy Snezek has received many complaints about the quality of the dvds and cds for "Ragtime". As a result, Kathy is working with Bill Kingsley to see if it is possible to get our money refunded.

*Jim Lucas made an inquiry to Bill Kingsley to see how much it would cost to have flat screen monitors added to the pit., Bill is checking on how much it will cost to run the cable to the pit, and Jim is checking on the cost of the monitors.

Ragtime/DVD
Congratulations for such a wonderful 50th Anniversary Production! MGP welcomes it's newest members to the family and looks forward to members yet to come. We are hoping that the DVDs and CDs will be ready soon! Once they are ready, a scene will be added to the 50 year history DVD before it is shipped to those who ordered one. The following is information from Jan Mackert about a DVD viewing party at her house! Would you please send a message out to everyone who was involved in our Ragtime production, reminding them of the cast party at my house on April 4 (1:00 to ???). We live at 5520 W. Erie Ave., Lorain, which is directly across the street from Community Health Partners. Our drive is gravel and right now it's essentially a construction zone (in other words, no room for cars). Probably the best places to park are the north side of the hospital parking lot, the credit union just west of the hospital, the ABC Shop (northeast corner of Kolbe and W. Erie) or the Convenient Store (southeast corner of Kolbe and W. Erie). Give me a call (282-2063) for more parking ideas. The food stuff is up to you. I'll have diet and regular Pepsi, and diet Sprite. If you want something else to drink--well, that's up to you, too. Can't wait to see everyone again.

Memory Bags
Some people wanted the saying that was with the 'memory bags' that were left on the piano and in the dressing rooms during "Ragtime": These small pouches are your memory bags. In each you will find a string...tie it around your finger to help you remember the word you speak, the notes you sing, and the steps you take. Music...this is to remind you of why you're here and that you are a part of something greater than yourself. A pin...because someone is bound to need one. A coin...for after the curtain closes and someone starts their story with 'if I had a nickel every time..." Together all of these objects are a reminder of the family you are a part of and the name which carries 50 years of tradition.

Dinner theatre ($10 on top of show ticket) will be before the performance on the 28th and the Alumni Celebration will take place after the matinee performance on Sunday, March 1st. Tickets go on sale January 30th. Buy your tickets early and save $2.00!! Visit our website for ticket purchases. Or you can go to The Press office on Lear Road, Howard Hanna Realty on Lear Road, Howard Hanna on Walker (formerly Realty One), or Rio Coffee Brewery at the Drug Mart shopping center on Walker near Moore. You can read the entire story in the book the musical was based on: Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow. CD's of the Broadway production are available, but no videos. Go to youtube.com and search for 'Creating Ragtime'. It was an hour PBS special from about 10 years ago and it has been posted in 6 10-minute segments. It's terrific. You meet the author, director, music director, choreographer, leads, and more as well as historical facts from the era of the show.

Alumni
We are hoping to get fliers to MGP Alumni who still reside in Avon Lake. That's about, oh, 700! At least, according to our latest records. Realize, some of these records go back 50 years! The plan is to get fliers in front windows of homes, back windows of cars, anywhere we can get visibility in the community. I'm attaching a flier. I hope it goes through to everyone in the bundle and is not interpreted as spam!
