What excited you most about working on this year’s show?
The most exciting part of being in this years production is getting to collaborate with our wonderful codirectors! Connie and Monica have so much love for MGP and I’m so glad I get to help their vision come true on stage!
What’s your theater origin story?
Hairspray made something in my soul CLICK! I couldn’t put it into word but I wanted to perform just like Tracy Turnblad. I started theater in high school but came around to doing Sandstone Summer Theater in 2012 with Anything Goes and returned every year. By my senior year, I’d joined a joint dance team with Lorain Highschool where they were putting on RENT! I asked the director if I could teach the students a tango for Tango Maureen and ended up choreographing 4 other numbers. I was asked back every year. In the pit all those years was my dearest friend Nina Fisher, who snagged me up to work at MAD Factory’s youth program. I’ve since worked in high schools around Lorain County and am involved with MANY community theaters where I continue to learn, share and explore the art of performance.
What’s your favorite backstage superstition or tradition?
I have to put my shoes on the same way everytime during quick changes. Right and then left. Never the other way. I WILL remove my shoes and put them on the right way or else they would do what they need to!
What’s a memorable or funny moment from a past show you’ve worked on?
I played 7 characters in SpongeBob The Musical at Sandstone in Amherst where I had THREE costume changes in the opening numbeeeerrrrrrr!!!
What’s a hidden talent you have that has nothing to do with theater?
I can talk with my mouth shut.
What’s one item you always have in your bag during rehearsals or tech week?
MY LIBRETTOS! Cause lord knows I’m holding onto it as long as I can.
