What excited you most about working on this year’s show?
I am excited to co-direct with Monica because The Little Mermaid is one of those shows that has so many nostalgic feelings for me. I have always been drawn to the water and loved pretending I was a mermaid when I was little. Creating this world has been a dream of mine.
What’s your theater origin story?
I grew up watching musicals, especially Shirley Temple ones, with my grandmother. I loved singing and dancing, so much so that she glued pennies to the bottom of my shoes so I could "tap dance". I was enrolled in a performing arts school in 5th grade and when I was 10 I was cast in my first musical- Jesus Christ Superstar as a disciple's child. From then musical theatre, dance, and singing were my everything- I was hooked!
What’s your favorite backstage superstition or tradition?
I love the tradition of the ghost light, we have one in our Black Box Theatre at DPSA!
What’s a memorable or funny moment from a past show you’ve worked on?
One of the most memorable moments I have is the first time my kids and I shared the stage together. Even though it was chaotic teaching them how to do costume changes while managing my own track, I am so thankful for the opportunity to share this world that I love with them.
What’s a hidden talent you have that has nothing to do with theater?
I love to read and go through books incredibly fast!
What’s one item you always have in your bag during rehearsals or tech week?
My iPad!
